The Manitoba Model Forest A Step Towards Sustainable Development

A Step Towards Sustainable Development

nature

The earth is losing more of its biodiversity with every passing day. It’s worse with the growth of negative human activities, including deforestation, burning fossil fuels, cutting down forests, and farming livestock.

No one person can save the earth. Even an entire city is not up to the task, But if we all come together to do one good thing for our planet, what a big difference it will make. That’s why we came up with Manitobamodelforest.net. Follow through our blog to know what we do, why we do it, and how.

The Manitoba Model Forest – What is it?

Manitoba Forests comprise about 26.3 million hectares of the province’s 54.8 million hectares. Located at 3 Walnut St, Pine Falls, MB R0E 1M0, Canada, in the province of Manitoba, the forested portion of the province is divided into ten Forest Sections, then further defined by distinct forest values within Forest Management Units.

Today there are 15 designated provincial forests in Manitoba, totaling almost 22,000 km2. The Northern Coniferous or boreal forest is our largest forest zone. These forests contain countless wildlife and plants that make up the beautiful biodiversity of the area.

As a model forest, it is transformed into a process that brings together multiple people, companies, and groups to realize a common interest–sustainable development. Therefore, all the towns, rivers, farms, and forests within the landscape of the Manitoba Forest are protected.

The Forest Act

Another thing you should prepare for in our blog is some information about the Manitoba Forest act. We love that the bodies behind the model forest want to guarantee its protection. Therefore, our blog will investigate the forest acts for establishing a Forest Management Licence. The Manitoba Environment Act establishes an environmental study and licensing process for large environmental developments.

The Canadian Model Forest Network

The Manitoba Model Forest Network in Canada was created in 1993. Information under the Canadian Model Forest Network can be found under Natural Resources Canada, Canadian Forest Service, Headquarters, Science and Sustainable Development Directorate, Model Forest Network, Ottawa.

Though the Canadian government first established the model forest approach in the 1990s at a total of about ten sites across the country, it is now a major concept, and the Manitoba Model Forest is a part of the system.

Our blog will cover the Canadian Model Forest Network and how it applies to the Manitoba Model Forest.
